Armed gang attack on Haitian hospital

Haiti.- On December 24, members of the “ViV Ansamm” gang launched an armed attack on the State University of Haiti Hospital, causing widespread panic in the city center. The assault left several journalists and media workers injured and held hostage within the facility, intensifying fears in a country already grappling with escalating insecurity.

Witnesses reported chaos around the hospital, a critical medical hub in the region, as the attack disrupted its operations. The incident occurred shortly after the Minister of Public Health had announced plans to reopen the hospital before Christmas.

Authorities have yet to disclose the number of casualties or the status of the hostages, leaving the public anxious for updates on this violent and alarming situation.
