20,000 cruise passengers enjoy Puerto Plata amidst recent floods

Puerto Plata, DR.- Despite recent flooding that affected parts of the province, Puerto Plata continues to welcome tourists with open arms. Dominican Republic’s Minister of Tourism, David Collado, confirmed that approximately 20,000 cruise passengers are currently enjoying their holiday in the popular tourist destination.

Collado assured the public that all operations for tourists are running smoothly, allowing visitors to fully experience the charm of Puerto Plata, especially during the holiday season. He emphasized that local authorities are working diligently to ensure that tourists receive the highest quality service and have a safe and enjoyable stay.

Accompanied by the province’s senator, governor, and mayor, the Minister personally visited Puerto Plata to verify the conditions and confirm that tourists arriving via cruise ships have a secure and pleasant experience.

“The president has divided the areas affected by the heavy rains in this province, and we are focusing on the tourism sector,” explained Collado.
