Mayor denounces Haitian occupation of Dajabón cemetery

Dajabón.- Santiago Riverón, mayor of Dajabón, raised alarm over the alleged occupation of the municipal cemetery by Haitian citizens, citing a lack of support from security and migration authorities. In a video shared on social media, Riverón criticized the absence of assistance from Immigration, the Army, Sefron, and the National Police, stating that the municipality has been left to address the issue alone.

Riverón emphasized that the situation has caused unease among residents and urged national institutions to intervene, as the municipality lacks the resources to resolve the matter independently. He also pointed to another concern involving Haitian motorcycle taxi drivers operating freely in Dajabón, an activity he claimed would not be tolerated for Dominicans in Haiti, citing safety risks for those attempting similar work across the border.

The mayor concluded with an urgent appeal for immediate action, calling on authorities to address these challenges responsibly and ensure the safety and integrity of the municipality and its residents.
