Gas leak did cause explosion in Sosua, investigation shows

Puerto Plata – The investigation carried out by explosives experts from the National Police determined that the explosion that caused the total devastation of a building and the death of Carmen Joselyne Lora Caminero, 37, was caused by a “gas leak.”

The police investigation determined that a gas leak at the scene of the incident caused the detonation when attorney Lora turned on the coffee machine in the offices of the Lisa Legal Solutions law firm in the Villa Ana María complex in Sosúa.

The company is owned by the lawyer Eva Lisa Ewest, a German-nationalized Dominican.

The incident caused the complete destruction of the two-story building, caused burns to the lawyer who was transferred to the Metropolitan Hospital of Santiago, HOMS, where she later died and damage to a transport minibus on the Puerto Plata route.

The explosion caused alarm in the community of Sosúa and it impacted homes and vehicles in the vicinity of the premises.
