18 undocumented Haitians arrested in Valverde operations

Valverde, DR.- The Dominican Republic Army apprehended 18 Haitians with irregular immigration status during operations in the municipality of Mao, Valverde. The arrests took place in the Pueblo Nuevo sector, where military patrols intercepted a white Hyundai Sonata. The driver fled upon noticing the military presence, leaving behind 14 undocumented Haitians inside the vehicle.

In a separate operation on the Monción highway toward El Rubio, San José de las Matas, four more Haitians were arrested while traveling on two motorcycles without proper documentation. The vehicles were taken to the 4th Infantry Brigade in Mao, and the detainees were handed over to the General Directorate of Migration (DGM) for processing.

The Army, under the orders of Minister of Defense Lieutenant General Carlos Antonio Fernández Onofre and General Commander Major General Jorge Iván Camino Pérez, will continue operations to combat illegal immigration and the smuggling of goods across the country.
