Dominican Navy intercepts Haitian vessel for illegal fishing

Montecrisiti, DR.- In a significant maritime operation off the coast of Montecristi, the Dominican Republic Navy (ARD) intercepted a Haitian artisanal vessel engaged in illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing within Dominican waters. During the operation, three Haitian nationals, who were found to be in the country without proper immigration status, were arrested and handed over to the General Directorate of Migration for legal processing.

The seized vessel is currently held at the Manzanillo Port Command as part of efforts to safeguard the country’s maritime resources. The Navy reiterated its commitment to protecting national maritime interests, enhancing coastal security, and combating illegal activities that threaten the sustainability of natural resources and the integrity of Dominican waters.
