Newspapers Society visits former president Leonel Fernandez

Santo Domingo.- The new board of directors of the Dominican Newspapers Society (SDD), which groups the country’s major print newspapers, visited former Dominican president Leonel Fernandez Friday at the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (Funglode).

The SDD visit was headed by its new president Persio Maldonado, editor-in-chief of El Nuevo Diario. Maldonado said the visit was part of a series of contacts made by the entity in favor of press freedom, institutional strengthening, cultural and social development as well as building partnerships for the benefit of better education for future generations of journalists.

The SDD delegation also included Miguel Franjul of Listin Diario, Adriano Miguel Tejada of Diario Libre, Osvaldo Santana of El Caribe, as well as Jose Monegro, Pedro Gil Iturbides, Marien Aristy and Bolivar Diaz, executives of El Dia, La Información, Hoy and El Nacional.
