What is the cost of all tolls in the Dominican Republic?

Santo Domingo — Last Friday, the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) and the RD Road Trust announced that tolls currently charged 60 pesos will be increased.

According to the MOPC and the RD Vial Trust, this increase will be made to “guarantee the constant maintenance of roads, improve road safety, reduce risks on the roads, and optimize signaling and traffic flow. ”

But, at present, what is the cost of tolls in the country?

Tolls on main roads, such as Las Américas, Duarte, 6 de Noviembre, Sánchez, and Coral 1, have uniform rates: light vehicles (Category 1) must pay RD$60; medium-sized vehicles with additional axles (Category 2), about RD$120; intermediate cargo vehicles (Category 3), RD$180; heavy vehicles with up to 6 axles (Category 4), the cost is 240 pesos, while very heavy transport vehicles (Category 5), it is RD$300.

On more recent routes, such as the Santiago Beltway, Azua, and sections of the Juan Bosch Beltway (1, 2, and Section 2B), fares are higher. For category one vehicles, the cost is 100 pesos; category two pay 200; category three vehicles RD$ 300, category four RD$ 400 and five, about 600 pesos.

On the other hand, the Guaraguao and Naranjal tolls (on the Northeast highway) stand out for their higher costs, starting at RD$200 for light vehicles and RD$500 for heavy transport.

However, the El Catey toll, located in Samaná, has the highest rates: RD$400 for category one vehicles, RD$1,000 for medium-sized vehicles, RD$1,300 for category three vehicles, and RD$1,600 for heavy transport.
