Samaná implements measures for Humpback Whale season tourism

Samaná.- The Ministry of Tourism (Mitur) has announced the arrival of the Humpback Whale sighting season in Samaná, offering an unforgettable experience for nature enthusiasts. From mid-January to the end of March, Samaná Bay becomes a prime location for observing these majestic creatures.

Tourism Minister David Collado highlighted that this year, local authorities and tour operators are taking extra precautions to ensure the safety of both the whales and visitors, promoting responsible and sustainable tourism practices. Sightings will be conducted in small groups with expert guides, minimizing the impact on the whales’ natural habitat.

Tourists will not only witness the beauty of nature but also learn about the whales’ remarkable migration from the cold waters of Alaska to the warm shores of the Dominican Republic, where they come to reproduce and give birth. The season is expected to attract thousands of visitors, providing a boost to the local economy while fostering marine life conservation awareness.
