2024 births: males predominate, National District leads

Santo Domingo.- The Central Electoral Board has released its annual birth report for 2024, showing a slight predominance of boys, with 51.1% of newborns being male and 48.9% female. In total, 77,308 boys and 74,820 girls were born across the country.

Birth rates fluctuated throughout the year, with the highest numbers recorded in September and October. September saw 7,546 boys and 7,298 girls, while October followed closely with 7,406 boys and 7,003 girls. In contrast, June and March had the lowest birth rates, with June registering 5,056 boys and 4,716 girls, and March recording 5,177 boys and 4,902 girls.

The National District led the country with the most births, totaling 11,186 boys and 10,804 girls, followed by Santiago with 7,235 boys and 6,974 girls, and Santo Domingo Este with 6,431 boys and 6,089 girls.
