Edmundo González leaves Dominican Republic

Santo Domingo.- Venezuelan opposition leader Edmundo González Urrutia departed the Dominican Republic on Tuesday, following a brief stop in Santo Domingo as part of his American tour. His final destination remains unknown, according to airport sources. González’s flight took off from La Isabela International Airport at approximately 1:30 p.m. local time (5:30 p.m. GMT).

Santo Domingo marked the last stop on González’s tour, which aimed to garner international support after he claimed victory in the Venezuelan presidential elections last July. His tour followed the inauguration of Nicolás Maduro on January 10, where the Chavista leader was sworn in by the National Assembly controlled by his party.
