COE issues alert on strong waves along Dominican coasts

Santo Domingo.- The Emergency Operations Center (COE) has issued a warning regarding worsening maritime conditions along the coasts of the Dominican Republic due to a high-pressure system, as reported by the Dominican Institute of Meteorology (INDOMET).

The Atlantic coast, particularly from Cabo Engaño in La Altagracia to Punta Mangles in El Seibo, is experiencing abnormal wave activity. INDOMET advises operators of fragile, small, and medium-sized vessels to remain in port until conditions improve.

On the Caribbean coast, while conditions are less severe, small boat operators are urged to restrict navigation to the coastal perimeter and avoid open waters due to stronger winds and waves.

This situation is expected to persist for 48 to 72 hours. The COE emphasizes the importance of staying updated through official bulletins and adhering to safety measures to ensure public safety during this period.
