‘Surprised’ appointee will restore the hapless foreign service

Santo Domingo.- Dominican Republic’s new Foreign Relations Minister on Tuesday said his appointment by president Danilo Medina caught him by surprise, but vowed that ethics, logic and morals will mark his tenure.

Andrés Navarro said he’s committed to establish and enforce those policies which in his view require teamwork, to adhere to all of Medina’s guidelines on foreign policy.

Navarro said coordination with other nations is a key element in foreign policy and while acknowledging “an extraordinary effort” in recent times, notes that a new logic needs to beadopted.
