While President Luis Abinader has estimated reserves of around 100 million tons, he confirmed that studies are still underway to assess feasibility.

Additionally, Abreu pointed out the geopolitical implications of rare earth extraction, as some elements are used in weapon manufacturing. He cautioned against contributing to global conflicts by supplying these materials, stressing the need for careful consideration before proceeding with any mining operations in the region.
