Omar Fernández proposes laws to safeguard diaspora investments

Washington, DC.- Senator Omar Fernández introduced two legislative proposals aimed at promoting investment and asset growth among Dominicans living abroad. Speaking at the Dominicans On The Hill event in Washington, D.C., he emphasized that the diaspora’s impact extends beyond remittances, encompassing entrepreneurship and advocacy for national interests.

The senator highlighted the significant presence of Dominicans in the U.S., where three out of four expatriates reside. Dominicans On The Hill, founded by Congressman Adriano Espaillat, has become a vital platform for civic engagement and diaspora empowerment. Now in its seventh year, the event brings together leaders, professionals, students, and elected officials to discuss strategies for strengthening the Dominican community’s role in economic and political development.
