The real estate company Apartamentos RD successfully organized the first forum, ‘Retos y Desafíos del Sector Inmobiliario’ (Challenges of the Real Estate Sector), an event that brought together experts and leaders from the construction sector to discuss positive actions that will strengthen the real estate industry in the Dominican Republic.

The forum brought together prominent personalities who shared their perspectives and experiences on the impact and growth of the real estate and construction industry. The objective was to join forces to establish the foundations that guarantee the sector’s optimal functioning.

Robert De La Cruz, CEO of Apartamentos RD, highlighted the importance of the forum in creating a space for dialogue and collaboration. “With this forum, we seek to set a precedent for unified discussion of the challenges and opportunities facing the sector, promoting regularization, trust and closeness between the different actors. In addition, we want to promote speed in the prevention and resolution of conflicts,” said De La Cruz.

During the event, key issues that are fundamental for the future of the real estate sector were addressed:

  • Reputation strategies and crisis management: Best practices for effective communication.
  • Strengthening of legal processes and the regulatory framework: Permitting and contract analysis.
  • Growth of the sector and financial challenges for 2025: Economic challenges and opportunities for the coming year.

During the event, Ernesto Mejía, Vice-Minister of Policy and Planning of the MIVED, gave a preliminary presentation of the digital platform that will provide visibility, compliance status, and progress of real estate projects.

In addition, the forum highlighted the proposals for observations presented by the Association of Real Estate Companies and Agents (AEI), related to the draft bill already submitted to the National Congress, which aims to regulate the real estate sector for the benefit of all those involved.

The event concluded with a call for unity from all sectors, promoting integrating public and private policies with a regulatory framework that guarantees transparency and protection for clients and prospective buyers.

The forum was attended by representatives of associations, businessmen, builders, and developers from the sector, who reaffirmed their commitment to developing and regulating the real estate market in the Dominican Republic.
