Longer hours for people to get new Dominican IDs

Santo Domingo.- TheCentral Electoral Board (JCE) on Tuesday announced longer service hours at its centers startingWednesday, to make it easier for citizens to get their new cedula (Dominican ID).

JCE PR director FelixReyna said the cedula centers will now be open 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday, anduntil 4pm on weekends.

He reminded thepublic that the process will continue after Saturday, January 10, when the old cedulawill no longer be in effect, and stressed that the new ID will continue to be issuedafter that date at no cost.

Reyna added that asof yesterday Tuesday, 4.8 million cedulas had been issued, with more than 104,000were being processed.
