Abinader orders promotion of 4,807 National Police officers

Santo Domingo — On February 27th, the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, ordered the promotion of 4,807 members of the National Police in recognition of their effort, dedication, and commitment to public safety.

“The promotions, awarded according to the merits and length of service of the officers, range from the rank of colonel to corporal, thus strengthening the hierarchical structure of the institution,” said a press release issued by the National Police.

Distribution of promotions
According to the official list, there were 50 promotions to colonel, 32 to lieutenant colonel, 126 to major, 325 to captain, 502 to first lieutenant, 911 to second lieutenant, 759 to sergeant major, 1,185 to sergeant, and 917 to corporal.

The Director General of the National Police, Major General Ramon Antonio Guzman Peralta, valued this decision as a boost to the police force’s morale and an incentive for officers to continue performing their duties with dedication and professionalism.
