Haitian police launches major offensive against armed gangs

Haiti.- The Haitian National Police (PNH) has launched a large-scale operation against armed gangs, aiming to restore security in the country. The Task Force and Tactical Police Command (CPT) have already made progress, neutralizing several gang members in Bas-Delmas within the first 48 hours of the offensive.

Dominican President Luis Abinader had previously labeled these groups as “terrorist gangs”, a term now officially adopted by the Haitian government. Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to eradicating organized crime, deploying security forces in key areas to protect affected communities. The government has vowed to continue operations without backing down.

While Haiti’s security crisis remains critical, the offensive has sparked hope among citizens, who expect long-term efforts to dismantle gang control and restore national stability.
