Samaná showcases tourism innovation at 10th Annual Development Meeting

Samaná.- The 10th Samaná Tourism Development Meeting focused on the theme “Tourism + Innovation,” emphasizing the sector’s evolution and integration with local communities. Organized by the Samaná Tourism Cluster (CTS) and the Samaná Association of Hotels and Tourism Companies (AHETSA), the event showcased Samaná’s unique identity as a destination blending natural beauty, community involvement, and sustainable tourism. CTS President Javier Lara Reinhold highlighted the region’s seamless integration of tourism with local life, while AHETSA President Abelardo Melgen Acra praised its potential to strengthen the country’s multi-destination strategy.

The event, held at the Bannister Hotel in Puerto Bahía, also honored past CTS and AHETSA presidents, as well as local leaders for their contributions to tourism development. Special awards recognized municipal leadership, business sustainability efforts, and contributions to Samaná’s tourism growth.

The conference was backed by prominent sponsors, including Banco Popular Dominicano, Grupo Piñero, Banreservas, and W2M Dominicana. With discussions on innovation, sustainability, and economic opportunities, the event reinforced Samaná’s position as a premier and evolving tourism destination in the Dominican Republic.
