Bávaro.- Authorities continue the search for 23-year-old Sudiksha Konanki, an Indian-American medical student who went missing on March 6 from the private beach of the Riu República hotel in Punta Cana. The operation has now extended to nearby Macao Beach, where soldiers and Dominican Air Force drones, equipped with thermal detection, are scanning the area.
The search effort involves multiple Dominican agencies, the FBI, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), and Interpol, which issued a yellow alert. Security footage shows Konanki heading to the beach with friends, who later returned, leaving her with a young American man under investigation. Authorities, including Attorney General Yeni Berenice Reynoso, are exploring all possible scenarios beyond an accidental disappearance.
Tourism Minister David Collado and President Luis Abinader have both addressed the case, emphasizing the country’s commitment to finding Konanki. Collado expressed personal concern, while Abinader reaffirmed that all government agencies are actively involved in the search.
