Armed gangs attack Haiti’s largest media group

Port-au-Prince.- Armed gangs attacked the offices of Caribbean Radio and Television (RTCV), Haiti’s largest media network, in Port-au-Prince, setting one of its buildings on fire. The station, which had relocated a year ago due to security concerns, confirmed the attack, sharing images and videos of the fire on social media. The assault was carried out by the armed coalition Vivre Ensemble, led by Jimmy Chérizier, alias “Barbecue.”

The attack comes as gangs strengthen their grip on newly seized territories, despite the presence of the Multinational Security Support Mission in Haiti since mid-2024. In recent days, the coalition resumed violent operations in Carrefour-Feuilles, displacing hundreds of residents. RTCV’s offices had previously been damaged in a gang offensive in March 2023, forcing staff to relocate for safety.
