Santo Domingo.- The Presidency of the Republic and the Mayor’s Office of the National District launched the Santo Domingo Integrated Plan, an ambitious urban development strategy aimed at modernizing the capital through coordinated management and long-term vision. The plan focuses on three key pillars: mobility, sustainability, and urban expansion. Its goals include improving road connectivity, preserving the historic center, and developing strategic infrastructure to boost tourism and the economy.
Key projects include the transformation of the Santo Domingo Malecón, which will introduce new public spaces, green areas, and a more efficient mobility system for both drivers and pedestrians. The Sports Boardwalk, currently under construction, will offer over 50,000 m² of recreational areas, walking and cycling trails, and parking facilities, contributing to the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games. Additionally, the restoration of Paseo 30 de Mayo is underway, with plans for a large community park connecting key areas of the city.
The plan also proposes the Los Trinitarios Bridge to ease traffic congestion in the historic center and a new marina and cruise port across from the Jaragua Hotel to enhance global connectivity and attract tourists.
