Traffic accident in Puerto Plata injures nine

Puerto Plata.- The National Emergency and Security System 911 coordinated emergency assistance following a traffic accident at the entrance to Río Grande, in the municipality of Altamira, Puerto Plata.

A minibus carrying nine passengers was involved in the crash, leaving four people, including a child, trapped inside. Firefighters from Altamira successfully rescued them, while six victims required transfer to medical centers for specialized treatment.

The emergency response included seven ambulances from the Directorate of Extra-Hospital Emergency Services (DAEH), along with units from the National Police (PN) and the General Directorate of Traffic Safety and Land Transportation (Digesett).

Authorities reported that traffic in the area remains slow as Digesett personnel work to clear the scene.
