Santo Domingo.- Recognizing the Dominican Republic’s vulnerability to natural disasters such as hurricanes, droughts, and earthquakes, a specialized training program was launched to help businesses develop Business Continuity Plans (BCPs). Organized by the Business Coordination Platform for Climate Action in collaboration with the Alejandro E. Grullón Chair of Sustainability at PUCMM, the initiative trained 25 entrepreneurs on strategies to minimize risks and ensure operational resilience in times of crisis.
The program, supported by institutions like Fundación Popular, ECORED, CONEP, the Ministry of Environment, and the National Council for Climate Change, with backing from the UNDP, emphasized the importance of business preparedness. Experts such as Angye Rincón from PUCMM, Pierre Candelón from UNDP, and Ana Amelia Rivera from Fundación Popular highlighted that strengthening business resilience not only protects companies but also ensures economic stability and job security.
Led by disaster risk expert Marco Antonio Giraldo Rincón, the workshop provided practical tools to identify key risks, safeguard critical resources, and adapt to climate-related challenges. The event concluded with a panel discussion featuring industry professionals from Grupo Universal, AENOR Dominican Republic, and the MICM, reinforcing the need for strategic planning in the face of environmental threats.
