Hipólito Mejía acknowledges Raquel Peña’s presidential aspirations

Santo Domingo.- Former President Hipólito Mejía expressed his respect for Vice President Raquel Peña’s ambition to become President while reaffirming that his daughter, Carolina Mejía, is prepared for the political challenge.

Mejía emphasized his long-standing friendship with Peña and acknowledged her right to pursue the presidency, stating, “We will see each other along the way.” He also affirmed his commitment to supporting Carolina, asserting that she has been ready for this challenge for some time.

His remarks came during the Seminar on Canada’s Mining Capabilities: Towards Sustainable Mining, where he described the presence of rare earth minerals in the Dominican Republic as a “blessing from God.”
