A large forest fire has erupted on the Eastern Highway near the entrance to San Pedro de Macorís, affecting approximately 10 kilometers of the road and causing major traffic disruptions.
More than 15 firefighter units from San Pedro and Juan Dolio are actively working to contain the blaze, while police, Digesett officers, and Civil Defense teams are managing security and traffic flow.
Authorities have urged drivers to proceed with caution due to heavy smoke reducing visibility. The cause of the fire remains unknown.
