Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Meteorological Institute (Indomet) reported that light rains began early Wednesday and will persist into the morning, mainly affecting coastal areas in the northeast, such as Samaná and María Trinidad Sánchez, and the southeast, including La Altagracia, El Seibo, and La Romana. These showers result from humidity carried by the east/southeast wind from the Caribbean Sea.
As the day progresses, cloud cover will spread inland, bringing localized downpours, possible thunderstorms, and scattered wind gusts in provinces such as Hato Mayor, Monte Plata, Duarte, Sánchez Ramírez, La Vega, Monseñor Nouel, Santiago Sur, Santiago Rodríguez, Puerto Plata, and Azua. Meanwhile, the southwest and southeast will experience partly cloudy skies with occasional showers.
Indomet has advised small and medium-sized vessels to remain in port along the Caribbean coast due to dangerous waves, while those on the Atlantic coast should stay near shore. Temperatures will remain warm, especially in urban areas, with Greater Santo Domingo seeing lows of 21-23°C and highs of 30-32°C.
