Santo Domingo.- Journalist Logan Jiménez Ramos refuted claims that Dominicans are unwilling to work in construction, emphasizing that they demand fair wages and proper labor conditions. As the director of La Voz Sin Censura, he criticized employers who prioritize hiring undocumented and untrained workers to cut costs and maximize profits.

Jiménez argued that the issue is not a lack of skilled labor but rather the evasion of social benefits such as severance pay, occupational safety, and social security. He proposed setting daily wages between 2,500 and 3,000 pesos to incentivize Dominican workers to return to construction jobs, reducing the exploitation of foreign labor under poor conditions. He also urged the government to intensify inspections and enforce labor laws to protect workers’ rights.

Citing the Dominican Constitution and Labor Code, he stressed that work is a fundamental right and must be fairly compensated. He called on employers to adopt ethical labor practices, asserting that dignifying workers would not only improve their quality of life but also contribute to national economic growth.
