Committee ready to mark April Revolution’s 50th anniversary

Santo Domingo.- President Danilo Medina on Monday administered the oat to the Committee to mark the 50th anniversary of the Revolution of April 24, 1965, which will organize activities to commemorate the historic revolt.

In a brief National Palace ceremony Medina inducted the commissioners designated December 31, formed by the heads of several government agencies, academia, historians and relatives of the armed struggle’s leaders.

"To commemorate this grand national anniversary with the greatest possible splendor, the commission created for such purposes shall prepare, organize and coordinate the publications it deems necessary and appropriate actions and celebrations that take place throughout the year dedicated to honor the memory of those who fought valiantly in defense of the Constitution, democracy and national sovereignty, " says Medina’s executive order.
