Haitians want envoy in Dominican Republic out

Santo Domingo.- A Haitian organization on Tuesday called on their government to remove ambassador Fritz Cineas, noting that their embassy in the Dominican Republic needs a profound change.

The Haitian Community in Dominican Republic wants the diplomat fired, because of the "lack of support the Haitian Embassy gives to the current program to document Haitian immigrants in this country."

Quoted by elnuevodiario.com.do, the Haitian organization also criticized the embassy for allegedly failing to intervene in conflicts arising from the issue of illegal immigrants in the Dominican Republic.

As to Haiti’s current political crisis, the organization says they oppose a potential coup against president Michel Martelly, adding that far from resolving their country’s woes, "would result in a backward step, a drama."
