Mitur secures 31 agreements in Miami to boost tourism

Miami.- The Ministry of Tourism (Mitur) has signed 31 agreements with companies from Canada, the United States, and Latin America to boost and diversify hotel investment in the Dominican Republic. Among these, a key partnership was established with the Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation (IDAC) to train captains for Dominican airlines.

A major agreement was signed with Expedia, a leading travel platform, highlighting destinations like Santo Domingo and Samaná. Other major travel companies such as Despegar, Hopper, and Trasant also joined, offering enhanced tourist packages. Air Canada, Voyage, and Travel Brands were among the international partners strengthening the country’s tourism industry.

During the third edition of the Dominican Republic Trade Show in Miami, more than 1,600 meetings were held with 90 Dominican companies and Latin American tour operators. Tourism Minister David Collado emphasized that 85% of visitors come from the Americas and projected the attraction of over 500,000 new tourists, leading to an estimated $1.300 million in hotel investment. The event also featured top hotel chains like Westin, Punta Cana, Casa de Campo, and Four Seasons, reaffirming the country’s position as a premier Caribbean destination.
