Dominican wounded in Haiti evacuated by Foreign Ministry

Santo Domingo.- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MIREX) successfully repatriated Eustaquio De León Manzueta, a Dominican citizen injured by gunfire during an attack by Haitian gangs in Tabarre, near Port-au-Prince. The evacuation was coordinated by the Vice Ministry for Consular and Immigration Affairs, the Dominican Embassy in Haiti, and the Ministry of Defense.

Following surgery in Haiti, De León, 49, was transported by Dominican Air Force helicopter to the Ministry of Defense heliport, where he was received by officials and family members.

MIREX emphasized its continued support for Dominicans in Haiti and reiterated its standing advisory—first issued in October 2021—urging citizens to avoid travel to the neighboring country due to ongoing violence and instability.
