Abinader laments Jet Set nightclub tragedy

Santo Domingo.- President Luis Abinader expressed his deep sorrow following the collapse of the roof at the Jet Set nightclub, a tragic incident that occurred during the early hours of Tuesday. The president has been closely monitoring the situation and promptly activated the Emergency Operations Center to coordinate rescue efforts.

The collapse happened during a live performance by merengue singer Rubby Pérez, with many attendees present at the time. While the exact number of casualties remains unknown, reports confirm several injuries and fatalities. By 4:00 a.m., emergency teams had managed to rescue approximately 46 people.

Jet Set, located at kilometer eight of the Sánchez Highway, is a popular venue known for its Monday night shows. President Abinader offered his condolences, stating, “Our prayers are with the affected families,” and assured that all relief agencies are working relentlessly to provide aid and support.
