Jalao Restaurant, linked to Jet Set owner, shuts doors amid tragedy investigation

Santo Domingo.- Jalao, a popular restaurant located in the Colonial City of Santo Domingo, has announced a temporary closure of its operations. The restaurant conveyed the information through an official statement on its Instagram account, amidst growing public scrutiny surrounding its ownership.

The announcement follows confirmation that Antonio Espaillat, the owner of the Jet Set nightclub where a deadly roof collapse occurred earlier this week, also owns Jalao. Espaillat is currently the focus of an ongoing investigation by authorities following the Jet Set tragedy on Tuesday, April 8th.

The catastrophic collapse at Jet Set has tragically claimed the lives of 225 people and left more than 180 others injured. The incident has sparked widespread public outrage and raised serious questions about potential structural flaws and negligence at the nightclub.

Jalao restaurant occupies a prominent location facing Parque Colón in the heart of the historic Colonial Zone. Antonio Espaillat has publicly stated his willingness to fully cooperate with the official investigations into the Jet Set disaster.

The case remains under active investigation, with the public and authorities awaiting further details regarding the precise causes of the collapse and any potential legal ramifications. The temporary closure of Jalao underscores the far-reaching impact of the Jet Set tragedy within the Santo Domingo community.
