Probe into 950k cocaine theft ‘tainted’: Senator

Santo Domingo.- Senator Wilton Guerrero on Monday said the investigation into the theft of 950 kilos of cocaine seized during a raid by Police Narcotics Div. (DICAN) agents is “tainted,” because of Police headquarters’ participation.

The Peravia province (south) lawmaker said only the Justice Ministry and other agencies should conduct the probe. "The police cannot be judge and jury. There are compromised people In the police, not only belonging to DICAN, but there are other people who have to answer for what took place."

Guerrero also questioned the transfer of all officers at San Cristobal’s police precinct, since in his view doesn’t halt corruption, in the wake of the investigation into the murder of Yenlys A. Heredia (Morao), accused of killing four people.
