Jet Set nightclub tragedy claims another life

Santo Domingo.- The National Health Service (SNS) has confirmed the death of the 232nd victim of the April 8 tragedy at the Jet Set nightclub in Santo Domingo. Jhonatan Natera Rosario, 46, passed away Thursday after suffering cardiorespiratory arrest that did not respond to resuscitation efforts. He had been in critical condition in the ICU at Darío Contreras Traumatology Hospital.

Medical staff, including Dr. César Roque, extended their condolences to the families of the two patients who died at the hospital as a result of injuries sustained during the nightclub’s roof collapse. The first hospital fatality, a 35-year-old woman, died on April 11 after suffering severe head, spinal, and multiple bone trauma.

The incident occurred during a performance by merengue singer Rubby Pérez—who was among the fatalities—when the ceiling suddenly collapsed. The disaster claimed the lives of several public figures, including former MLB players Octavio Dotel and Tony Blanco, Montecristi governor Nelsy Cruz, designer Martín Polanco, and the son of Public Works Minister Eduardo Estrella.
