The Dominican Federation for Animal Rights (FEDDA) announced that it will assist citizens in any animal-related event during the 2025 Holy Week Preventive Operation, in coordination with the Emergency Operations Center (COE) and the National Emergency Response and Security System (911).

The Fedda indicated that this action aims to offer guidance and assistance in cases of emergency involving animals, promoting accident prevention, animal protection and respectful coexistence between people and their pets in public spaces.

As part of this campaign, Fedda has made available to the population the “Guide to Prevention and Rescue of Pets during Easter,” a free resource that can be downloaded from the organization’s social networks and digital platforms, offering essential recommendations to avoid risk situations.

Some of the key suggestions include:

• Always carry fresh water and a suitable container to keep your pet hydrated.

• Do not expose animals to extreme sun or hot surfaces, such as sand or pavement.

• Use a harness or collar with identification in public places.

• Carry bags to collect their feces and keep the spaces clean.

• Avoid leaving animals alone in closed vehicles.

• Be aware of the animal’s behavior to prevent it from affecting other people.

The entity called on citizens to be responsible for their pets, ensuring their well-being and preventing them from interfering with the enjoyment and safety of others.

“Having a pet not only implies affection, but also commitment and respect for the environment,” said Fedda President Lorenny Solano.

Support channels

During Holy Week, a special telephone number will be available enabled by the COE call center, in addition to the 911 line, to report cases that represent an emergency and endanger the life of an animal.
