Santo Domingo.- Police have arrested a 44-year-old Haitian national, Dieuseul Siac, for impersonating a Brazilian consul and charging fellow Haitians between US$1,000 and US$2,000 to obtain fraudulent visas to Brazil.
The arrest was carried out by agents from the Central Investigation Directorate (DICRIM) while Siac was driving a Toyota Vitz in the San Carlos sector of the National District. Authorities seized US$737 in cash, a passport in his name, two cell phones, and a bundle containing 13 passports belonging to other Haitian nationals. Personal documents and fake IDs, including credentials from a private security firm, a religious chaplaincy, and an anti-drug organization, were also confiscated.
Siac allegedly used these IDs and props to maintain his false diplomatic identity. The case has been transferred to the Department of Human Trafficking and Smuggling for further investigation and legal proceedings.
