Pelegrín Castillo urges ban on April 27 Reconocido march

Santo Domingo.- Former deputy Pelegrín Castillo has called on Interior and Police Minister Faride Raful to ban next Sunday’s march by the Reconocido movement to the Altar of the Fatherland. Castillo labeled the demonstration “provocative,” alleging it’s backed by foreign interests hostile to national sovereignty—namely the Maduro regime, Diosdado Cabello, and Colombian guerrilla groups.

He argued the march violates Article 25‑1 of the Constitution and Constitutional Court ruling 168‑13 by involving foreign agents in political activities and opposing public authorities. Castillo warned that permitting the protest could embolden Haitian sectors in the Dominican Republic and set a dangerous precedent for national stability.
