Immigration Chief pledges investigation into irregular Haitian settlements in Monte Plata

Santo Domingo.- The Director General of Immigration, Luis Rafael Lee Ballester, announced that his office will investigate reports of irregular Haitian settlements in the municipal district of Gonzalo, located in Sabana Grande de Boyá, Monte Plata province.

Speaking during the Regional Forum on “Challenges of the Integration System Amid the Worsening Migration Crisis,” held at the Dominican Senate, Lee Ballester confirmed to the media that the case in Gonzalo will be looked into.

Reports suggest that Gonzalo has become a new focal point for undocumented Haitian migrants, with hundreds allegedly residing there without legal immigration status.
