Haitian radio and TV interference covers 40% of the border

Pedro Santana, DR.– The spokesman for the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) in the Senate said that Haitian radio and telephone interference in the border area is reaching nearly 40%, which causes cultural, social and economic damage as well as endangers national security.

"Even though the Senate initiated an investigation seeking to correct the Haitian interference with telephone and broadcast domains in the border provinces, in which the government and private companies participated, the fact is that the problem is growing every day," said Senator Adriano Sanchez Roa.

Sanchez revealed that to talk by telephone, Dominican families in the border area have to acquire the services of the Haitian telephone network or use the roaming system. And on top of that such situation forces them to listen to Haitian radio stations.
