Robinson Cano to play in Dominican Winter League

Santo Domingo.– Robinson Cano has been granted permission from the Mariners to play a limited number of games in the Dominican Winter League after his recovery from a broken toe.

As reported in MLB.com, Mariners general manager Jack Zduriencik said Cano, 32, is now fully recovered and just wants to test his toe in game action prior to spring training.

Cano, who is scheduled to make his first start Tuesday, suffered a broken right pinkie toe when he was hit in the foot by a pitch during the Japan Series in November.
