Official opening of St. Regis Cap Cana boosts ultra-luxury tourism

Marriott introduces its flagship luxury brand to the Dominican Republic

Cap Cana – The St. Regis Cap Cana Resort officially opened its doors on May 1, adding one of Marriott International’s most iconic luxury brands to the Dominican Republic’s growing portfolio of world-class accommodations.

The announcement was made by the hotel chain through the following message:

“The wait is over: your journey to the extraordinary begins here. Welcome to The St. Regis Cap Cana.”

Additionally, Pioneer Investment Fund Management Company officially handed over the hotel to the Marriott International team in a ceremony attended by key representatives from Pioneer, Campagna Ricart & Associates, and Marriott.

Marriott was represented by Hugo Desenzani, Vice President of Operations CALA; David Alemán, Director of Global Design CALA; and Laura Santoni, General Manager of St. Regis Cap Cana. Also present were Dino Campagna of Campagna Ricart & Associates, and Héctor Garrido and Yamil Isaías of Pioneer.

“St. Regis Cap Cana, an asset of the Pioneer Development Fund and 100% Dominican-owned, brings one of the world’s most iconic luxury brands to the country. This handover marks a milestone for Dominican tourism and for the Caribbean region,” said representatives from Pioneer.

Speaking to arecoa.com, General Manager Laura Santoni expressed her excitement:

“We’re thrilled to open a hotel of this caliber under the Marriott brand. The St. Regis is one of our most luxurious lines, and bringing this level of hospitality to the Dominican Republic—especially within Cap Cana—makes us feel truly fortunate.”

She noted that the hotel’s opening elevates both the service and the guest experience to an ultra-luxury standard within the Dominican Republic and Cap Cana specifically.

“We are pioneers in this segment, bringing ultra-luxury property and service at this scale. I’m sure more properties in this category will follow, but we are proud to be the first,” Santoni added.

She emphasized the strategic importance of expanding the country’s ultra-luxury offering, particularly as the eastern region of the country is currently experiencing high demand from the U.S., European, and Latin American markets, with strong airlift capacity supporting growth.

Santoni also noted that St. Regis Cap Cana opened its reservation system in 2024, with bookings quickly filling for late April, May, and June—including group stays and events already scheduled for the fall season.
