Costa Rica.- Dominican drivers Axel Cabrera and Raymi Guzmán delivered impressive performances on the second day of the 2025 Latin American Karting Championship, held at P1 Speedway in San José, Costa Rica, despite challenging weather conditions.
Cabrera emerged as the top Dominican performer, securing second place in his category on Sunday and finishing third overall in the championship. Guzmán also impressed with a strong comeback in the Vortex Junior category, moving up from 12th to seventh in the prefinal and clinching third in the rain-soaked final. Other Dominican racers, including Edder Herrera and Santiago Benito, faced technical setbacks due to the weather but remained competitive, with Herrera finishing tenth. Youngster Alonso González recovered from a technical penalty that pushed him to the back of the grid, fighting back to finish fifth in the Mini ROK final.
With over 120 drivers from 15 Latin American countries participating, the championship highlighted the growing strength of Dominican motorsport. The Dominican Republic is expected to host a future event, supported by the Dominican Automobile Federation (FDA).
Meanwhile, in Spain, Dominican driver Luis Cifre excelled in the Junior category of the FIA Academy Trophy in Valencia, making it to the final and placing the country among the top 30 globally.
