Faride Raful denounces digital smear campaign

Santo Domingo.- Dominican Minister of the Interior and Police, Faride Raful, released a powerful video message on Tuesday, publicly denouncing a sustained smear campaign and digital blackmail targeting her in recent months. Raful revealed that artificial intelligence has been used to fabricate false information about her personal life, warning that this form of technological manipulation poses a growing threat to society.

“This is not a game. It’s a real threat,” she stated, emphasizing the urgent need for society to confront the dangers of AI-driven defamation and extortion. A long-standing advocate for transparency and citizen security, Raful made it clear she would not tolerate further attacks and confirmed she has instructed her legal team to take formal action against those responsible.

Beyond defending herself, Raful stressed that no one is immune, including children and adolescents, and called for a collective stand to protect truth, dignity, and reputation. Her statement sets a significant institutional precedent in the fight against digital violence, urging both the government and society to take this issue seriously and uphold fundamental rights in the digital age.
