Santo Domingo.- The Senate of the Dominican Republic honored boxer Cristian Pinales on Tuesday for winning a bronze medal in the 80-kilogram category at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. Senate President Ricardo de los Santos led the ceremony, commending Pinales’ discipline, effort, and determination. Though the Senate typically recognizes long-standing achievements, Pinales was awarded for his early but promising career, with the hope that this recognition inspires continued success.
The resolution to honor Pinales was proposed by Senator Eduard Espiritusanto of La Romana, who praised the athlete for representing his province and country with pride. Pinales expressed his gratitude, dedicating his future victories to Dominican youth and emphasizing the importance of perseverance. Born in La Romana, Pinales became the second Dominican to earn an Olympic boxing medal in Paris and previously claimed gold at the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games and the Bolivarian Games.
