15-hour blackouts as power grid’s ‘soul’ shuts down(Correct)

Santo Domingo.- Friday’s announcement that the AES Dominicana 300-megawatt power plant at Andres, Boca Chica will be shut down for maintenance until Feb. 17 has raised concern of blackouts across the country, Nacional reports

The Electricity Distribution Company EdeEste said the outage of AES Andres -the country’s largest power plant- will most affect the eastern region, while the southern energy suppler (Edesur) announced that it would change its scheduled interruptions.

The outage of AES Andres, acknowledged as the national power grid’s soul, has subjected many sectors in the capital and outlying towns to blackouts as long as 15 hours every day.
