Panama looks to Dominican Republic to boost its tourism

Madrid.- Panama Tourism minister Jesus Sierra on Friday called the Dominican Republic a Caribbean area reference on tourism management, as evidenced by the growth posted over recent years.

He said he’ll visit Dominican Republic sign bilateral agreement and meet with tourism investors and technicians in the country.

His Dominican par Francisco Javier Garcia said he’s willing to help and share his country’s experience with Panama as to how it has managed to develop tourism growth jointly with the private sector. "The tourism activity should be shared because in the measure a destination strengthens, it enhances the entire area."

García invited Sierra to Dominican Republic’s various tourism regions and to meet with his technical team to share experiences.

He said he encourages Dominicans to visit countries such as Panama, and Panamanians to Dominican Republic, because "it has it all."

"It’s a two-way street, because in the measure we strengthen these cooperation agreements, we promote the flow of tourists to one country and vice versa,” the official said at the 35th annual International Tourism Fair (FITUR).
