Environmental violations halt Noval Properties project in Las Terrenas

Samaná.- The Public Ministry of the Dominican Republic, through the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for the Defense of the Environment and Natural Resources (Proedemaren), has ordered the suspension of The Reef, a real estate project developed by Noval Properties in Punta Bonita, Las Terrenas, Samaná.

The decision followed a raid conducted by environmental prosecutors, who found that the project violated multiple environmental laws. These include the General Law on Environment and Natural Resources (64-00), the Biodiversity Law (333-15), the Fisheries and Aquaculture Law (307-04), and the Forestry Sector Law (57-18).

Authorities cited Article 8 of Law 64-00, which prioritizes the principle of prevention in all environmental management activities. The Public Ministry emphasized that the suspension is part of ongoing efforts to ensure legal compliance and protect the country’s natural resources.
